Sunlake High School officer under investigation
LAND 'O LAKES (FOX 13) - The Pasco Sheriff's Office says the school resource officer at Sunlake High School is under investigation after video of a student's arrest surfaced.
The Pasco Sheriff's Professional Standards Unit says it is investigating an incident where the SRO, at the request of school administration, removed a student from the school cafeteria.
The Pasco sheriff's office says the SRO, whose name is not being released, tried to put the female in custody, but she resisted.
The officer will remain on the job, but will not be at Sunlake High during the investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said there is an 8-minute video from the officer's body camera, but did not release the video. Students at the school also recorded the moments before and after the girl was taken into custody.
"As information continues to evolve, we want to ensure that the statements made about this incident are factual and accurate," the sheriff's office said in a media release.
