The state's property insurance system is in turmoil, with six insurers being declared insolvent this year alone. Private companies have dropped hundreds of thousands of customers, forcing them into Citizens, the state's insurer of last resort.

DeSantis says Florida will provide $25M for hurricane victims after FEMA denied state's aid request

After FEMA denied Florida's request for funds to purchase building materials for homes damaged by Hurricane Ian, Gov. DeSantis announced the state will provide $25 million to storm victims: "We're not just going to sit there and take no for an answer," he said.
