Armed suspect shot, killed by Pasco deputies: PCSO
TAMPA, Fla. - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says deputies were forced to open fire on a suspect armed with a gun, killing him.
It happened on Sunday night at a home off Princeton Dr. in Bayonet Point.

Pasco County deputies shot and killed a man who they say was armed with a gun at a home in Bayonet Point on Sunday night.
What led to the shooting?
The backstory:
According to PCSO, deputies had been searching for Matthew Vincent Phillips, 41, since Friday. He had multiple felony warrants for his arrest, investigators said.
Deputies found Phillips at his home around 9:30 p.m. Sunday and tried for about 30 minutes to get him to come out.
PCSO said Phillips eventually came out the back door with a gun and threatened deputies, along with their K9, leading to shots being fired.
Bodycam video released by the sheriff's office shows the moments leading to the shooting.

Investigators also said kids were in the home at the time, along with one other adult. They were not hurt.
What they're saying:
"He said he was not going back to prison and he would have a shootout with law enforcement," Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference early Monday.
"This all happened in seconds. Those deputies were in fear for their lives – not only for their own lives, but for the life of our K9," Nocco said.
The suspect's criminal past
Big picture view:
Nocco said Phillips had a "long criminal history," including 26 felony arrests and 18 misdemeanors, along with an active warrant.
