The man officers said shot and killed a woman set to testify against him has been formally charged with her death.

Antwoine Noland has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Alicia Fussell, who was shot and killed in July as she sat in her car outside a Tampa business.

Tampa Police say it began when Fussell suffered a gunshot to the foot, allegedly at Noland's hand, in February. Fussell was going to tell a jury what happened, but never got the chance.

Fussells mother, Ardessa Martin lives in Ohio and said Friday would have been her daughter's 44th birthday.

"This news came on the right day," Martin said.

She worried Noland would never be charged with her daughter's murder and was thankful to Tampa police and the Hillsborough State Attorneys Office for their swift actions.

"Now we will get justice for what that coward did," explained Martin.

Noland will be formally arraigned on murder charges on Monday.
