Child testifies against alleged flasher
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A trip to the dentist can be scary, especially for children, but prosecutors say what happened to an 8-year-old girl was not only traumatic, but also criminal.
The girl testified during a hearing for defendant Christian Stark. He’s accused of exposing himself to the child as she sat in a dental chair last January.
"He said, 'Look,' and I looked and then he showed me his private parts and I ran," the girl told the courtroom.
Frightened, she ran out of the room and told her mother what had happened.
But prosecutors say this isn’t the first time Stark has been caught dropping his pants in front of a child. Another witness, who was 6 years old at the time, says Stark did the same thing to her.
She was in a playroom waiting for her mother to finish a meeting.
"He asked me to wait and to look and then he dropped his pants," the other witness said.
With a trial looming next week, prosecutors want the jury to hear from both alleged accusers but the defense says the state is trying to stack the deck against his client.
Prosecutors say Stark is a repeat offender and the jury should know about it.
The judge is expected to rule on Monday.
