OLDSMAR (FOX 13) - A local dance program is helping students with physical challenges tap into their abilities in a unique way.
The Revolutions class at Hope U Dance Studio is integrated. It combines dancers with and without disabilities.
Merry Lynn Morris is the education director of the family-owned and operated studio.
She says while some of the young dancers are in wheelchairs, this is not a therapy class.
"A lot of times kids with disabilities, students with disabilities, are sometimes separated and they aren't always around other kids like themselves," said Morris. "So this is an opportunity to be around kids who are like them in unique and different ways where they can all dance together."
She adds that the benefits go beyond the physical.
"Dance tends to instill that kind of sense of confidence after awhile and certainly for students with disabilities, even more so," said Morris.
