Forecast: Weekend warmup, then more cool air
TAMPA (FOX 13) - The springtime weather roller coaster is well underway in Florida, and will continue through next week. After a brief warmup this weekend, temperatures will again fall back below normal.
Tampa residents woke up to very dry air and temperatures in the 40s Friday morning, while eastern and northern neighbors were at or even below freezing -- Brooksville bottomed out at 30 degrees.
“You wouldn’t think that this time of year, but it does happen,” FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg offered. “It’s just cold.”
The cool air may have seemed even colder to many Floridians after last month’s record-long stretch of 80-degree days. But it won’t be the last cooldown we see this spring.
After another chilly night tonight, winds will shift around from the south this weekend, brining warmer air. Tampa will enjoy a high around 76 degrees Saturday before scattered showers move through Sunday and Monday.
That will bring the next round of cold air, with highs only in the 60s and lows back down in the 40s.
