Two brown pelicans were entangled after getting caught in a fishing line, wildlife officials said.

In Panama City, officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissions, responded to the report of the two pelicans.

They carefully used a long hook to pull the two pelicans closer and into their boat. They began untangling them, and short time later, they removed the nagging lines and hooks. The pelicans were released back into the water, and both flew back to perch on their pilings.

FWC shares images of the successful rescue on the agency’s Facebook page. In its post, officials wanted to remind fishermen to avoid leaving fishing lines behind, unattended or unsecured. Instead, they suggest recycling it.
