PLANO, Tx. (FOX 13) - The hawk that became famous for seeking shelter from Hurricane Harvey in a Houston taxi cab was released back into the wild.
Harvey the hawk – it has since been discovered that Harvey is a girl – sought shelter in William Bruso’s taxi after stopping to stock up on food and supplies for the storm. According to Bruso, the hawk was not injured, but refused to leave the car. Harvey the Hurricane Hawk rode out the storm with Bruso and his family.

Harvey had a minor injury and recovered at the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition in Houston before being handed over to Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. When she was finally fit enough to be released, she was released in a Texas park on Wednesday located in Plano, TX.
“Such a great moment to see Harvey the Hurricane Hawk introduced to her new home in the beautiful Oak Point Park!” the City of Plano tweeted along with video of her release.
