Man convicted in clerk's murder

Four years after the murder of a Riverview 7-Eleven clerk, a jury has found his killer guilty.  Lawrence Bongiovanni, 24, was convicted Tuesday in Hillsborough County.

Back in July of 2013, he stabbed Kenneth Redding more than 30 times.  Investigators say Redding was working early in the morning at the store on Bloomingdale Avenue and Providence Road.

Bongiovanni walked in and hid in a restroom.  A surveillance camera caught him a few minutes later creeping through the store before attacking Redding.

Bongiovanni will receive an automatic life sentence next month.  He was facing the death penalty, but prosecutors say they dropped it because of his history of mental illness.
