Thousands of FOX 13 News viewers from across the Bay Area helped to make this a special Christmas for families they don't even know.

FOX 13 teamed up with Metropolitan Ministries to collect toys, food, and everyday necessities for those who really need it.

Today, all of those donations were given to kids and families at the Metro Ministries Holiday Ten.

Everyone who came out today got food, gifts, prayers, and most of all love and hope.

Metro Ministries says it served 20,000 families on Christmas. They gave out 160,000 meals and 40,000 toys - and they couldn't have done it without the 2,000 volunteers who helped pull it all off.

Volunteers say it was emotional to see the kids opening their gifts on Christmas day.

Some of the families they helped this year lost everything they owned in Hurricane Irma.
