TAMPA (FOX 13) - More people want to pick up food or have it delivered for lunch and dinner. That's the trend Tampa-based Bloomin' Brands is banking on as the company opens a new Outback-Carrabba's Express location in Tampa.
There's no dining room. Customers can order food online or by phone and either pick it up or have it delivered.
"If they're at a soccer game, they can stay at the soccer game until we deliver it to you. Or if you're at home doing homework with your kids, it's all about convenience," explained Chris Demery, general manager of off-premises dining at Bloomin' Brands.
The Tampa location on Gandy Boulevard west of Dale Mabry is the third Express following openings in Hollywood and Orlando. They feature most menu selections from both restaurants.
"The pricing is exactly the same as at any Outback and Carrabba's in this area; there’s just a $4 charge if you choose to have it delivered," added Demery.
He acknowledges that Express is a test, but says growing take-out sales at their existing restaurants has shown the consumer demand.
