An arrest has been made nearly two years after a Wesley Chapel woman was murdered.

Pasco County deputies announced Friday, they arrested 36-year-old Patrick Whyte for the incident that occurred in June 2017. That day, investigators say, Whyte and his live-in girlfriend, Kristen Moon, were at the Hyde Park Café in Tampa.

Detectives say witnesses saw Whyte “violently” grab Moon and pull her into his vehicle. As they drove away, the witnesses claimed they saw and heard him beating her.

Later that day, Pasco fire units and deputies responded to Whyte’s home in Wesley Chapel on Sunset Lane, where Moon was lying unresponsive on the ground. She was bloody and visibly injured. She passed away the following day, according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office media release.

Whyte said she fell out of the vehicle, according to deputies, but the medical examiner’s office ruled the cause of death as a homicide.  The report states Moon has skull and rib fractures, as well as hemorrhages in her head.

A Pasco County grand jury indicted Whyte and he was arrested Thursday night.

No other information has been provided. Detectives are expected to release more details at a Friday afternoon press conference.
