Ruskin man dies in multi-vehicle crash in Apollo Beach
APOLLO BEACH (FOX 13) - A 66-year-old man passed away following a three-vehicle crash in Apollo Beach on Tuesday morning, troopers say.
The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Spindle Shell Way after 7 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A 27-year-old woman from Gibsonton was heading south on U.S. 41 in a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, and turned left into the path of a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado which was heading northbound. The Silverado rotated and crashed into a 2009 Honda Pilot, driving by a 45-year-old from Apollo Beach, troopers say.
The driver of the Silverado, a 28-year-old man from Ruskin, was traveling with three passengers in his vehicle. All were wearing seat belts except for a 66-year-old man from Ruskin, who died at the scene of the crash. His identity has not been released, according to FHP. The drivers of the Hyunda and Honda vehicles had minor injuries, troopers say.
Charges are pending, according to FHP.
