Police officers found two skimmers at two different gas stations in North Port Monday.

Police said they found both skimmers at stations along Toledo Blade Blvd., one at a Mobile station near Plantation Blvd. and another Circle K at Bobcat Trail.

Police found the skimmers while working alongside the Florida Department of Agriculture during their regular checks and say they found both skimmers within just a few minutes.

Police say to minimize your risk, it's best to pay inside and use cash. But if paying at the pump, make sure to check that the security tape on the cabinet at the pump is not broken or tampered with. Also, use a credit card instead of a debit card so money is not deducted immediately from an account.

As always, police say you should monitor your bank account for any suspicious charges.

Anyone who suspects a gas pump has been tampered with can call: 1-800-HELP-FLA (435-7352.)
