Skyway 10K goes virtual for 2025 race
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - It’s a special run as thousands of racers cross the Skyway Bridge for the Skyway 10K each year. But, they’ll have to find somewhere else to run it this year.
Big picture view:
The race is going virtual this year, because its usual staging spot for runners and vendors – Tropicana Field – will be under construction after damage from Hurricane Milton. The Trop's parking lot is normally what they use on race day.

The announcement on the Skyway 10K's Facebook page came with mixed reactions, though.

What they're saying:
Avid runner, Shawn Shin has run the event in the past, getting to take in the amazing views from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
"I kind of feel like it kind of defeats the purpose of running that race," said Shin. "I think the whole reason people really enjoy that race is to have that experience of running on the bridge."
Dig deeper:
Organizers said they were unable to secure a location or venue to safely accommodate the thousands of race participants, volunteers and vendors. In a letter to racers, they said they can still support the Armed Forces Family Foundation by running virtually.
Organizers said those who register will still get a bib, t-shirt and a medal.
