Tampa mourns CASA founder Linda Osmundson's death

TAMPA (FOX 13) - The founder of a Tampa organization helping victims of domestic violence has died. 

CASA founder, Linda A. Osmundson was remembered by the organization she founded as an inspirational and passionate leader who led a movement against domestic violence.

CASA, which stands for Community Action Stops Abuse, was founded by Osmundson in 1989. She remained executive director of the organization until June, 2015.

Osmundson was well known for her work with domestic abuse survivors. Most notably, for her creation of a new domestic violence center in July, 2015. 

Osmundson spoke publicly about her personal experience as a survivor of domestic violence and how it pushed her to help other victims. While with CASA, the organization grew from a 22-bed shelter into a 100-bed domestic violence center serving all of southern Pinellas County. 

Osmundson passed away at her home Monday, January 4.
