Woman attacked in North Port neighborhood

It is a simple sketch with a few distinct details.

"You will notice this guy has two earrings in," said Josh Taylor with the North Port Police Department.

It is the face of a man one North Port woman will never forget.

"There are some things that are very descriptive to folks. Maybe a tattoo or some sort of mark under one of the eyes," explained Taylor.

On September 5th, North Port Police said a 40-year-old woman was walking along a bend off Bullard Street. It was around 2:30p.m., when she said a car with two men pulled up and asked a question.

"They asked her if she wanted to have a good time. She said no. Next thing you know, she is grabbed into the car and someone has their way with her," Taylor told FOX 13.

North Port Police said the car drove off and left her sobbing in the roadway.

Neighbors heard and saw nothing.

"We haven't found anything that would indicate anything but her story is true," Taylor said.

Kathleen English lives feet away from where it happened.

"There was a yellow rope going across the street and a police car was there," English recalled.

At first Kathleen was nervous knowing what happened.

"That is bad and scary," said English.

She finds comfort in knowing police continue to patrol the area 11 days later.

"I am not personally afraid myself. I don't see it happening to me," she said.

Kathleen did not recognize the man shown in the sketch, but she hopes someone will.

"I hope that we can find the man and justice will be done," she added.
