Woman honors law enforcement with thin blue line driveways

A North Port woman is honoring law enforcement by painting thin blue lines on driveways for free, for all those that ask.

"I was inspired by people speaking negatively about the police. I felt like this is wrong, and I must do something to change it," Sally Lovick said.

So far, about a dozen people have emailed the 56-year old after a local newspaper featured her work earlier this week.

"It sure feels good. I can say that much. It does feel good," Lovick said.

She says the thin, blue line represents law enforcement as the barrier between good and evil.

Months ago, Sally noticed several communities across the country taking part in the Safe Harbor Initiative. Participants paint thin blue lines on sidewalks and driveways to designate homes that support and respect law enforcement.

Sally said the North Port Police Chief reached out to her and plans to join her next week in painting lines on driveways.
