Weak tropical systems stunted by Saharan air
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is watching an area of low pressure in the tropics that has a 10 percent chance of developing over the next seven days. He says strong winds are expected to prevent it from developing though. According to Weber there are some weak tropical waves making their way off the coast of Africa, but the Saharan air is keeping them from forming.

New tropical disturbance being watched in Atlantic
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is keeping an eye on two areas in the Atlantic- the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy and a disturbance to the south and east, which has a 20 percent chance of development over the next week. However, he says it is a long shot that either system will develop due to high wind shear in the area. Weber says the good news is that if a new system does develop, it will likely stay out to sea.

Will Tropical Storm Cindy redevelop?
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says things are quiet in the Atlantic right now as dry air makes its way up toward the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy. Weber says there is a small chance that the remnants may find itself in more conducive conditions and may try to redevelop. Yet, he says most computer models show that there is just a small window in which redevelopment can take place and even if it did form again, it would not impact the United States.

Tropical storms Bret and Cindy continue to weaken

FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is watching two tropical storms- Bret and Cindy. He says that Bret is moving west and losing strength as it continues to be plagued by wind shear. He says this system has only 24-36 hours left. Tropical Storm Cindy did strengthen overnight, but it is expected to weaken as it encounters wind shear. Tony says that Don would be the next storm. At the moment, he does not see any development areas anytime soon.

Tropical Storm Cindy gains strength as Tropical Storm Bret weakens
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is watching two tropical storms- Bret and Cindy. He says wind shear is going to cause Tropical Storm Bret to fall apart as we head into the weekend. He says Tropical Storm Cindy, on the other hand, is just ramping up. However, wind shear will eventually be the demise of this storm as well and it is expected to fall apart over open water. Weber is also watching a tropical wave that has worked its way off the coast of Africa though it shows no signs of developing over the next several days.

TD 4 forms; Bret remains just shy of a hurricane
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Bret and Tropical Depression #4, which formed early Thursday morning. Tropical Storm Bret?s wind speed are just five miles an hour shy of becoming a hurricane. However, Weber says if it does become a hurricane it will be short-lived as it heads into the Caribbean and begins to battle wind shear. Tropical Depression #4 is trailing behind the tropical storm and as of 11 a.m. it had wind speeds of 35 miles an hour. If winds reach 40 miles per hour, Tropical Depression #4 will become Tropical Storm Cindy, which may happen on Thursday.

Tropical Storm Bret sets sights on Lesser Antilles
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says the tropics are active as he keeps an eye on Tropical Storm and Invest 93L, which is likely to develop into a tropical system within the next two days. Weber says wind shear will create a hostile environment for both storms, but Invest 93L will also head into warm waters that are conducive for further development. He says Tropical Storm Brett may weaken due to wind shear if it tracks a little south, but if it tracks north without the wind shear it may develop into a hurricane.

Tropical depression likely to become hurricane
video

Fox 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says a tropical depression working its way across the Atlantic is likely to become a hurricane. Weber says that over the next few days, the depression will continue to move towards the east and strengthen. A few modules have the storm moving south, while others have the storm staying farther to the north. Weber says there are still many question marks surrounding this storm. However, he adds that at this point, none of the modules indicate that there would be any effects over the U.S.

Hostile conditions keep tropics quiet
video

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says all is quiet in the tropics thanks to wind shear, which is creating a hostile environment for storms. Weber cautions people against paying too close attention to internet postings about tropical development this early in the season. He says when you see one computer model suggesting that something may spin up, it doesn?t give you the confidence that it will become a reality. Weber says no development is expected over the next five to seven days.
