He says the winds are stronger and the pressure is dropping, which means it will likely intensify to a category 2 storm and then reach category 3, close to category 4 status before making landfall in the Big Bend Area Wednesday morning. He encourages residents to be done with their hurricane preps by 7 p.m. on Tuesday because the Bay Area should begin feeling the effects of the storm Tuesday evening. He adds that Hurricane Idalia?s path has not changed and says even though he doesn?t expect us to get a direct hit from Hurricane Idalia, the Bay Area can expect a 4?7-foot storm surge with counties close to the Big Bend area seeing a storm surge of 10-12 feet.
