Tropical Update: June 25, 2022
FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is currently keeping his eye on two areas in the tropics. One in the Gulf of Mexico has a 20% chance of developing over the next five days and may become a weak area of low pressure that would drift westward. Sadiku says an area in the Atlantic has a better chance of developing into a possible tropical depression in the next week, but it is tracking well south of Florida and should not impact the Bay Area.

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is watching a well-defined tropical wave in the Atlantic that is working its way to the west. He says conditions are overall favorable for development and it is possible we could see a tropical depression form over the next several days. Weber says if it becomes a tropical storm it will be named Bonnie.

FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg says despite warm water temperatures there is a lot of dust coming off of the Saharan Coast and African Coast, which is keeping a lot of thunderstorms from developing.
