Alessi Bakery celebrates 106 years in Tampa

TAMPA (FOX 13) - An staple bakery in Tampa is celebrating 106 years in the Bay Area.

Alessi Bakery came to be in 1912. The secret to their success is believed to be a passion for their baked goods, and customer service, says Jason Alessi, the sales manager.

"It's just a passion about a quality, customer service, putting he absolute best into all that we do," he explained.

The celebration comes after their founder, Phil Alessi Sr., passed away earlier this year.

"He was a special man," Jason said. "Taught us a great deal. He looked at all of his employees as an extension of his family, including many of the customers. He loved this business. He was here every single day, even in later years and when his health was in decline."

Jason said the founder never looked at his job as work, because he enjoyed what he did.

"I loved his enthusiasm," he recalled. "Every time, I saw him, every time I talked to him, he just made me smile.
