Fact or fiction: Tampa Bay History Center exhibit explores history of pirates

Image 1 of 3

There is one exhibit at the Tampa Bay History Center that is all about the booty.

It’s Gasparilla season in the Bay Area, so it’s only fitting to be inspired by the history of pirates, and visit the Treasure Seekers exhibit at the museum. It’s a permanent exhibit to learn about the fact and fiction of the pirates that actually worked and lived in Florida.

There are hands-on experiences, including learning about celestial navigation, which is how pirates used the stars to find their way through the sea. You can also view maps of the Caribbean Sea and Florida – or at least what people thought it looked like generations ago.
