3-week-old boy found safe; Amber Alert canceled

Memphis Police said a 3-week-old who was the subject of an overnight Amber Alert has been found safe and his non-custodial father has been taken into custody.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the alert for 3-week-old Steven Smith who police said was taken by 21-year-old Stevie Boyd around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday from a residence in the 4200 block of Graceland.

Police were later tipped off the father might be with the child in another apartment in the same complex. Officers eventually were able to make contact and shortly after noon, the child was recovered and the father was taken into police custody.

The infant was checked out by medics by appeared to be doing well.

Boyd’s charges were not immediately clear.
