Boy abducted 13 years ago found safe
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A boy who disappeared 13 years ago has been found safe and unharmed.
Julian Hernandez, now 18 years old, was kidnapped by his non-custodial father in Alabama in 2002, according to police.
Last month, a lead in the case lead the FBI to Ohio where they found Hernandez living with his father.
Hernandez's social security number kept coming back incorrect on his college applications. A school counselor then realized Hernandez was listed as missing by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Bobby Hernandez went by the name, 'Jonathan Mangina,' according to published reports.
He is now being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail.
It is the same jail were Cleveland abductor and rapist Ariel Castro was held after his arrest for the brutal and repeated assaults of three girls inside his home for more than a decade.
Julian Hernandez's mother still lives in Alabama. "It's kind of up to him now as to whether he wants to come back," said Vestavia Hills police Lt. Johnny Evans.
