Bradenton man charged in 3-month-old child's murder

A Bradenton man has been charged following the death of a 3-month-old in December.

Sarasota police say they arrested 26-year-old Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo on Tuesday. On December 27, Uvo drove the child’s mother to a nail salon. Uvo was her boyfriend at the time, according to a media release. When the mother call Uvo to pick her up, he arrived with the child in the car, however, she told detectives at the time that her baby was “lifeless and felt slightly cold to the touch," police say.

When the child’s mother dialed 911, Uvo ran from the area because he had three arrest warrants out of Lee County, Sarasota police say. The child was airlifted to All Children’s Hospital, where doctors suspected child abuse.

On December 28, Uvo was arrested on aggravated child abuse and child neglect charges. The 3-month-old died the following day, police say.

The medical examiner completed its autopsy report on April 19, concluding the child’s manner of death was homicide. Uvo’s charges were upgraded to aggravated manslaughter, police say.
