Child hit by car after getting off school bus in Brooksville dies: FHP
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - An 11-year-old girl who was hit by a car after getting off a school bus in Hernando County on Tuesday has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
What we know:
Troopers say an 11-year-old girl was walking northbound on Eskimo Curlew Road, north of Osprey Avenue in Brooksville on Tuesday afternoon after she was dropped off by a school bus.
According to FHP, she was walking along the unpaved and unmarked road edge when a 65-year-old Brooksville woman driving a Toyota Corolla hit her.
The girl was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and died the next day.
What we don't know:
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released any information on whether charges will be filed.
The agency said the crash is still under investigation.
