Chilly air to return this weekend

Winter’s not over yet, even in the Sunshine State.  Another round of cold weather is headed for Florida, and forecasters expect it will arrive just in time for the weekend.

A series of fronts will push down into the Southeast late this week, bringing increased chances of rain to Central Florida on Friday, followed by lower temperatures.

“This is one of those seven-day forecasts where I’m thinking, OK, we could actually hit 80 degrees tomorrow or come very close to that. And then on Sunday morning, we could be in the 40s,” FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg offered.

It’s still a few days away, but forecasters don’t think it will be quite as cold as last week’s big chill that brought snow to northern Florida and several days of freeze warnings.  Instead, the immediate Tampa Bay area will likely bottom out in the low 40s on Sunday night.
