Clearwater addresses beach parking ahead of spring, summer seasons
CLEARWATER BEACH (FOX 13) - Whether you live or vacation in the Bay Area, you likely know the pain of trying to find parking during a busy day at the beach.
The city of Clearwater is trying to get rid of that headache by offering a free shuttle service.
The city announced Tuesday visitors can now park for free at either of the park-and-rides in downtown Clearwater and take a shuttle that will run every 15 minutes.
Mayor George Cretekos says Tuesday marks the start of their peak spring break season and that the shuttle program will help keep traffic off the roads while giving a boost to what the city offers downtown.
“This will help people understand that there are things going on downtown,” Cretekos said. “They can enjoy not only the beach but our downtown."
The city and the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority teamed up to offer the free shuttle for the next ten weeks.
