MEMPHIS, Tenn. (STORYFUL) - A Memphis man stopped short of his stroll in the downtown area when he saw a carriage horse laying on the ground.
Hunter Demster snapped and shared photos of the seemingly distressed horse on Facebook. He said a “horse whisperer” was trying to get the horse to stand up, but it was not working.
When he walked back, police had blocked off the particular section of the road, and the horse had a sheet over its head. At that point, Demster said wasn’t sure if it was alive or dead.
Memphis police reportedly said the horse had an injured leg and was taken away on a truck. the cause of its injury was still under investigation.
After Demster shared the photos on his Facebook, many sounded off in the comment section on the treatment of carriage horses in the community.
