Deputies arrest 4 protesters at Florida State Fair

Hillsborough County deputies arrested four protesters at the Florida State Fair on Sunday.

It started as a “Black Lives Matter” protest, the group of demonstrators gathering to call attention to the life of Andrew Joseph III.

Joseph died in 2014 as he tried to cross Interstate 4 on foot after he was kicked out of the state fair.

The teen was one of more than 100 young people ejected from the fair after deputies said a stampede of teenagers rushed through the midway.

Deputies told FOX 13 most of the protesters who were asked to leave the fair Sunday complied, but a few refused to listen.

“The majority of the group did disassemble, only four members of the group remained, however, they did chain themselves together and sat down on the pavement,” said Col. J.R. Burton with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, the four protesters have been charged with trespassing after a warning, which is a misdemeanor.
