Dogged: After 6-hour search, Pasco K-9s get their man

Pasco County deputies say they've captured a serial thief -- this time accused of ripping out a safe from a solid waste transfer station in Dade City.

Body camera video shows the moment Pasco County deputies took him down. Deputies say early Tuesday morning, Joseph Brown broke in to the East Pasco Transfer Station, used a tow strap and an ATV to rip a door open.

Once inside, they say he used an ax to un-secure a bolted safe containing more than $840.

Kevin Doll, a spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, says Brown tried to take off, but his truck got stuck in the sand.

"We showed up, noticed that the safe was in the back of the truck and that he was obviously in the woods," Doll said.

Two K-9 teams worked together to track him down – for six hours.

Brown is accused of causing more than $8,000  worth of damage to the transfer station. Deputies say he has a long past of plaguing east Pasco County with his 'theft' problem.

Brown is being held on a $50,000 bond.
