Dunedin man with bombs, guns, bonds out of jail

DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Dunedin man who investigators say had an arsenal of weapons and three bombs inside his home, along with information about local schools and a water treatment plant, has bonded out of jail. The sheriff's office said early Friday he has been Baker Acted and taken into custody for a mental health evaluation at the Pinellas County Jail. 

Bond was set for Randall Drake, 24, at $20,000 on felony charges after authorities found the bombs inside his home Thursday.

Investigators were executing a search warrant for child pornography when they stumbled across the arsenal of weapons, including an AK-47, a 12-gauge shotgun and other guns, which Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said he named, along with the three homemade bombs.

There were also handwritten journals and a troubling note promising revenge on the world, along with aerial maps of Ben Hill Middle School, Essrig Elementary School, and the Hillsborough County Water Treatment Center.

The letter, transcribed by investigators, read, "The daughter's come and I am ready. I have Fed on my Hatred For centuries. My fury on those who have imprisoned me shall be vast and without MERCY. I shall have my bloody revenge, and then the WORLD WILL BURN BURN."

Sheriff Gualtieri said Drake's known history is limited, but investigators know he was in the Explorer program with the Tampa Police Department. He worked for a brief time at a firearms store and had no criminal history.

Investigators are trying to figure out if he has any ties to any other organizations.

Drake was described by the sheriff as a "sleeper," meaning he has no criminal record and was not on the radar of any intelligence agencies.

The sheriff said if Drake bonds out, he would be taken into involuntary custody for a mental health evaluation.
