Edwards announces St. Pete concerts, acts

Businessman and philanthropist Bill Edwards announced live music and entertainment events are coming to St. Petersburg this summer.

Edwards says top acts, including Poison and Grammy-award-winning Lauryn Hill, will be a part of a concert series dubbed “Al Lang Live.”

Over at the Mahaffey Theater, former vice president Joe Biden will make a stop during his “American Promise Tour.” Magician David Blaine and Donny and Marie will also bring their show to the theater.

Most of the acts are scheduled for traditionally slower days of the week in order to maximize economic impact. During his announcement today, Edwards says they should bring in $4.5 million to the city of St. Pete.
