Live results from the 2026 midterm elections are beginning to flow in from around the U.S. as voters wait to find out the balance of power in the U.S. House and Senate.

The first polls closed at 6 p.m. Eastern time, though voting will continue for hours until Hawaii and Alaska wrap up at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time, respectively. After that, it may take hours or even days for tight races to be called.

U.S. Congress balance of power

U.S. Senate:

Republicans have held a majority in the Senate for the last two years, but with 33 seats up for grabs, the Democrats could flip enough seats to take control of the upper house.

U.S. House:

Similarly, Republicans are looking to hold on to power in the U.S. House of Representatives, but as they are every two years, all 435 of the House seats are up for election.
