Decades of history went up in flames overnight Monday after a devastating fire destroyed a popular Bay area bar.

Seminole Fire Rescue crews were called to Screwie Louie’s Porpoise Pub on Seminole Boulevard near 86th and 102nd Streets just before 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Seminole Fie Chief Heather Burford said it took crews about an hour to contain the 3-alarm fire, and added that windy conditions played a big role in spreading the flames throughout the building.

It has since been ruled a total loss, something Chief Burford says is especially unfortunate considering the mark the business left on its community over the past 65 years.

“It’s just sort of sad…This establishment is known for doing fundraisers for folks in need,” she said. “This is a very close-knit group of folks that are typically here as patrons.”

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

FOX 13 will continue with updates on this developing story.
