Schools in Bradenton have gained a new furry classmate.

Cecil is the latest addition to the Bradenton Police Department. He was donated by the Southeastern Guide Dogs in Palmetto and will be training to become a police dog with the agency. Once Cecil finishes canine college, he’ll serve alongside a school resource officer, visiting schools in the city and keeping a nose out for trouble.

Clearly, Cecil has already made new friends when he visited Manatee Elementary School. The students allowed him to take a seat at one of their tables and about 10 students surrounded him a circle to give him hugs and love. Besides being a friendly face with a wagging tail, he will be serving as a bomb dog for the Bradenton Police Department.

Fans of Cecil can follow his progress through bomb-sniffing school on the agency’s Instagram account: @bradentonpd.
