Hillsborough County detectives searching for missing sex offender
GIBSONTON (FOX 13) - A warrant has been issued for a registered sex offender who did update authorities with his new home address, detectives say.
Hillsborough County detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in finding 41-year-old Carlos Mendoza. They say the warrant is for “failure to update his residential address within 48 hours of change.” His last known address was 6202 Gibsonton Drive in Gibsonton.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Mendoza was convicted for sexual battery with a victim under the age of 12 in Pinellas County.
Records also show Mendoza has a history of failing to report his address to authorities. According to his FDLE profile, he was found guilty of failing to provide the information twice in 2008 in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, and again in Hillsborough County in 2012.
In February 2017, he was found guilty of failing to report in person to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office every 30 days as a transient.
