Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office opens state-of-the-art canine training complex

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday it is opening a new canine training complex.

The complex can be utilized by both local and national agencies for training opportunities.

Included in the facility are classrooms, secure training aid rooms, scent rooms, and office space.

By the numbers:

The 11,000 square-foot space is designed to support the training and care needed for law enforcement K9 teams.

The kennel is equipped with 24 climate-controlled indoor and outdoor runs.

The runs can be configured to house up to 48 canines during emergency situations. 

The kennel also features advanced drainage, ventilation, and sanitation systems specifically designed for canine care.

"Our K9s play a critical role in protecting our community, and this investment ensures they and their handlers have the resources they need to train, perform, and stay ready to serve."
