The Northwest County Dog Park in Hillsborough opened today at 10 a.m. Though it's the county's sixth dog park, this newcomer is setting itself apart by bringing several firsts to the area.

With over 1.5 acres of fenced in play areas and pathways, there's plenty of room for perks not offered at any other dog park in the county. Pups of all sizes can enjoy a variety of agility equipment, including crawl tubes, weaving posts, large and small hoop jumps, and an adjustable bar for dogs to jump over.

But the amenities aren't just for the dogs; owners get perks too. This is the first park in the county with artificial turf. That means pets and their owners don't have to deal with messy mud and dirt. And the park's partnership with HART means plenty of parking.

The park also offers on-site bathroom facilities, shaded seating areas, doggie drinking fountains, a washing area, leash poles, and pet waste stations.

The park is located at 8951 W. Waters Avenue and will be open every day dawn to dusk.
