Humane Society of Polk County vying for thousands in grant money

A Bay Area shelter hopes to raise enough money to give their animals a much-needed boost.

The Humane Society of Polk County is taking part in the annual, "Savings Pet Challenge." A microchipping company, called Michelson Found Animals, has been holding the competition for five years allowing shelters to compete to raise money for themselves.

Whoever raises the most, splits $250,000 in grant money. The competition started on Tuesday afternoon, and nearly $45,000 has been raised. It runs through May 31.

The Humane Society of Polk County is in 17th place, with just $550. To donate or for more information, click over to the fundraising page here
