Lightning strikes Mulberry home twice

MULBERRY (FOX 13) - It seems like Mother Nature has a grudge against Ron Malone, but it certainly doesn't bother him.
   
Earlier this week, lightning struck Malone's million dollar home on Canterwood Drive, and nearly burned it to the ground.  On Friday, an army of adjusters and rehab specialists fanned  out through the house trying to figure out what he lost and how much it is going to cost to replace it. No matter what the final number is, it's obvious that it will be big.

Despite that, Malone was bordering on being almost chipper when we spoke with him.

"My wife is alive and healthy and my dogs are great," he told FOX 13.
"We had to go in and get them. They're fine. So life is good."

It turns out that Malone is no stranger to tragic, unexpected situations. This is the second time his home in Mulberry has been struck by lightning. The last time was a few years ago.

The first time the strike blew out every gadget and appliance in the entire house.

"Anything that was connected had to be replaced," he said.

As it that's not enough, when the Malones were living in Kansas, a tornado leveled their home. Think that's more than anyone can bear? It goes on. Years ago, his wife's home burned to the ground.

So how can Malone have such a good attitude? He seems to have figured out what many people never do.

"Stuff," he said. "You can replace it. It's just stuff. As a matter of fact, the more stuff you have, it seems the more you get distracted from the things that matter, which is friends and family."
