Manatee County Sheriff's Office Increasing School Patrols
MANATEE COUNTY (FOX 13) - The Manatee County Sheriff's Office will be providing additional patrols to schools in unincorporated areas this week.
Starting Monday, deputies will be assigned to every local elementary school.
The sheriff's office will also increase the number of deputies at high school from one to two.
But there will continue to be one deputy assigned to each middle school.
The sheriff's office announced these changes last week in response to several school threats.
None of those threats, however, turned out to be credible.
The sheriff's office says it's simply making these changes as a precaution.
