Monday afternoon is the deadline to register to vote in Florida’s primary elections.

The August 28th ballot includes partisan primary races for governor, attorney general, agricultural commissioner, and multiple seats in Congress.

Florida is making registering to vote easier this year with the rollout of online registration. The state  launched an online voter registration option on Registertovoteflorida.gov last year, making Florida the 35th state in the country to offer virtual registration.

Online voter registration is expected to be a more accurate voter list, according to elections officials. The website will require citizens to provide personal information, including their driver's license and the last four digits of their social security number, to prevent ineligible people from registering.

Monday is also the deadline to change party affiliation. Florida is a closed primary state, meaning you can only vote in the primary of the party you are registered in.
