More than 100,000 people gather along Bayshore Blvd. Saturday for the Gasparilla Children's Parade
TAMPA - Saturday it was time for the Tampa's littlest pirates to invade the Bay as part of the Gasparilla Children's Parade.
"I’m just enjoying the day having fun. It’s all for the kids," dad Aj Holloway said.

Local perspective:
The parade kicked off around 4 p.m. at the corner of Bay to Bay and Bayshore Blvd. stretching several miles all the way to downtown Tampa.
"Me personally, I like to put the kids on the shoulders so they can catch the bead. Just to see their face when they have a full neck of beads on. There’s nothing like it," dad Andrew Dahl said.
For some families, the parade is a tradition they take part in every year, suiting up in full pirate garb hoping to catch some beads.
"It’s the second one in a row for him right here. We get to see his face light up catching beads and dressed as a pirate. Hey, we live the pirate life. We were born and raised in Tampa. We love it," dad Cody Brichner said.

For some other families, the Gasparilla Children’s Parade was a whole new experience and one they definitely plan to take part in again next year.
"We're super excited. This is our first Gasparilla. We’re really happy to be here, and we’re enjoying everything about it," dad Jason Ramazell said.

Big picture view:
According to EventFest, the Gasparilla Children’s Parade is the largest children’s parade in the country with more than 100,000 people watching the more than 125 krewes throw beads along Bayshore Blvd.
"The mom put together this beautiful thing. I came together with this hat here just to fit in, but the kids look great. We just love to live this pirate life here in Tampa," Brichner said.
