National Drug Take Back Day

The Drug Enforcement Administration is asking people to turn in their unwanted or unused prescription drugs Saturday.

It's a nationwide initiative to combat prescription drug abuse.

A survey release last month showed 6.4 million Americans over the age of 12 abuse prescription drugs, according to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. That's more than cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, and methamphetamines combined.

The National Drug Take Back Day collected about 447 tons of drugs in 2015, according to the DEA.

To find a prescription drug collection site near you, visit their website and enter your zip code. The sites are open from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Saturday, October 22.
