One dead in Plant City wrong-way crash
PLANT CITY, Fla. - A wrong-way crash in Plant City left one person dead after a vehicle struck a tractor-trailer, officials say.
On Monday, before midnight, a blue 2002 Volkswagen Passat was traveling south in the northbound lanes in the 800 block of North Alexander Street, when it crashed into a semi-truck traveling northbound, Plant City police said. The male driver, who has not been identified, died following the crash, according to fire officials.
The semi-truck driver had no injuries. Plant City police say the crash is still under investigation, and it’s unclear why the Volkswagen driver was traveling in the wrong direction.
There were no passengers in either vehicle at the time of the crash. Anyone with information related to the crash are asked to call Officer C. Lopez at (813) 757-9200.
