Troopers search for driver who fled after crashing into pedestrian, killing him
ELLENTON, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash that occurred in Ellenton, where a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles. They said one of the drivers fled from the collision.
The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 301 near Interstate 75. The first vehicle, believed to be blue in color, was heading west when an adult male attempted to cross the roadway, troopers said.
When the vehicle collided with the pedestrian, troopers said the driver fled. The victim was in the center lane of U.S. 301 when a second vehicle collided with him.
The second driver remained on the scene. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital where he passed away.

Troopers said they are still attempting to identify him.
