From dresses to shoes, tops, pants, and suits, the Dress for Success Inventory Sale is helping Bay Area women expand their business wardrobe without breaking the bank.
“We use the proceeds from the sale to then buy the clothing that we don’t get donated that we need for our clients,” says the non-profit’s sale coordinator Kelly Falconer-Miller.
What they need are plus-size items.
“Larger-size suits and separates,” she said. “Larger size meaning 14 and up, and for shoes, 9 and up.”
Robyn Jones has been shopping these sales for years.
“To come here, to give back and to be able to spend the money here, knowing that it goes for a great cause is even better,” Jones said. “Instead of going to the mall. It’s perfect, I love it.”
With a little bit of everything, she always finds something.
“I found pants, shoes, suits for work, pocketbooks, scarves, jewelry. I buy an array of something every time I come,” Jones said.
In the last 20 years, the non-profit has served over 25,000 women, and it hopes to only go up from there.
"We do view this not only as a fundraiser, but as a community service project, as well, because we do understand women need to dress professionally and present a good image in the community but have a wardrobe on a budget, and we do feel strongly on that as well," Falconer-Miller said.
